Words are murder.
Scribes have a gift. Whatever they write comes true. Misfortune. Theft. Even murder. Editors-covert specialists operating beyond the law-watch over them. Among the Editors, Io is the best, and the most ruthless. But on her way to her next assignment, something happens. Her phone rings-along with every other phone on the planet.
What would you do if you knew the world would end next week?
It’s the same question asked to every person on Earth. Is it a hoax? Or is it really the end of the world? Confusion and fear erupt into chaos. Riots and mass murders spread like wildfire. Io discovers a Scribe named Nadie sent the message. But the message is only the beginning.
The final winter solstice.
In two weeks, on the day of the winter solstice, Nadie promises a final judgment. Battling her own dark past and a world spiraling into mass hysteria, Io must race to stop Nadie before the winter solstice. But as the Scribe’s nightmare scenario engulfs the world in a series of supernatural catastrophes, Io uncovers a shocking possibility: Is Nadie writing humanity’s extermination? And is Nadie somehow linked to her past?
What the critics say about Solstice:
“Latino author Silva brings a fresh new voice to the genre in this debut featuring a Latino-Asian hero and expanding the demographic appeal of sf. A good selection for most sf collections.” – Library Journal
“Silva spends much of his time investing in characterisation, bringing the players to life in front of the reader’s eyes…a very impressive launch for an exciting new author.” – SciFiNow Magazine
“This debut speculative fiction/horror novel is reminiscent of The Matrix and John Twelve Hawks’ The Traveler (2005).” – Booklist Reviews
“A clever spin and a birthing of a universe equal to Dick’s replicants and humans in Blade Runner.” – Lisa Alvarado, La Bloga
“A riveting, original saga.” – Midwest Book Review
About the second edition of Solstice
Solstice, a speculative fiction thriller, is my first novel. Initially published in 2007, the Second Edition is now available as an ebook on Amazon.com.
When I decided to re-launchSolstice as an ebook, I didn’t want to just do a quick HTML conversion and plop it on Amazon. I wanted a true “second edition” that would improve upon original novel. I wanted the writing to be sharper, the story to be more streamlined, and the characterizations to be more believable. I knew that the first edition had a lot of things that could have been improved upon, and a second edition was the chance to make these improvements.
The result is a version of Solstice I’m a lot happier with. The story is, of course, the same, but I hope that the revisions reflect some of the things I’ve learned about being a writer since I first started writing this book in 2005. I hope you purchase a copy and enjoy the book!
